PAW Patrol Rescue Run is a new app from the TV show PAW Patrol by Nickelodeon. It has been on the top of the sales chart since its launch. I checked it out, and it is a very fun app for kids age 4 to 6, with fun games and good educational content, like colors, numbers, size comparisons. In addition to academic skills, the app also encourage team work and problem solving skills. All the learning elements are blended in the game play, which is why it is so popular so quickly.
PAW Patrol is a TV show series for preschool kids. The show starring 6 heroic puppies who are led by a boy named Ryder. The team works together on rescue missions to protect their community. The show promotes the concept of team work, problem solving, with a lot cute humor. If you have not watched the show, you can check it out on their website, where you can find full episodes.
The app is based on the TV show. You can think of it as the show’s extension.
There are 3 games in the app: The Bay, Jake’s Mountain, and The Train. Each game is set in a setting where something goes wrong and the PAW Patrol team is called to help.
Each game has several components, usually includes running to the spot and activities on the rescue spot.
For example, for The Train, the PAW team need clean the train track blocked by logs. Kids have to help the rescue dog run as quickly as possible to get to the spot. Along the way, they need help the dog jump over barriers, collect treats like bones. It is tricky sometime to decide when to jump for certain barriers.
Once the dog gets to the spot and identifies the issue, the task is to help find the runaway animal cali. The rescue dog will smell and give kids clues where Cali is, like “he is behind the apple tree with 5 red apps”, and kids will go find Cali. If kids find Cali with no difficulties, the question gets harder. It can become “he is behind the apple tree with 6 red apples and 4 green apples”.
PAW Patrol Rescue Run is a fun educational game app for preschool to kindergarten kids. I like they blend learning with games, so kids are having fun while gaining the academic skills. I also like how they encourage team work. On each rescue mission, the running dog always gets help from other dogs.
It is available on iPad. It is $6.99 on App Store.
