Game on!

I have a 9-year-old boy.  Since he got the iPad (more accurately, since I got the iPad), it became one of his favorite toys.  He found so many games in the App Store.   A lot of them are free!  Recently I played with him on couple of his games.  They are actually fun, and educational.  I realized this is such a good tool for the kids to learn.  I did some search online on iPAD games for kids.  There are not many sources of info focused on apps for kids.  If there are, they are more on games for very young kids.  I hope we have a place to go to check out the games and keep updated on what our kids are interested and keep connected with our kids.  It is a start…Please share your (or your children’s) favorite games.  I hope this becomes a forum for parents/teachers who are interested in leveraging games in learning.

  • I am so glad I found your blog. I just glanced through all your posts and saved some to get for my older son. I hope you keep posting more so that when I go back to teaching, I will love to get some ideas then! Great blog. Nicely designed, too!

Both of my kids were given Leapsters for Christmas. We usually don’t travel with electronics because there are certain countries that we’ve had difficulties getting them in. (I think that there’s a big temptation for officials to confiscate them since electronics can be so expensive in some countries) But, we’ve let the kids take them a few places and they are great for younger kids. Plus, they don’t take up too much space.

That is what I like about it – all you need to carry is just one device, and you have some many different games on it.
