Scribblenauts – Teaches Creative Thinking and Spelling in One Game

Scribblenauts – Teaches Creative Thinking and Spelling in One Game post image

Scribblenauts Remix is a fun game that the whole family can enjoy.   I like it especially for the open-ended play.  There is no right-wrong answer.  You solve a puzzle in your own unique style.

The app has a variety of brain-teasing puzzles.  The solutions to the puzzles are endless, so you can re-play the same puzzle again and again.  For example, the first puzzle is to grab the star on a tree.  The child can choose to cut the tree down with an ax, or he can use a saw.  He can also choose to use a helicopter to fly up…  Once the child decides what he wants to use, he has to correctly type in the word of his choice.  Kids who cannot spell words won’t be able to play this game.

What Can Kids Learn:

While playing the game, kids learn to be creative, learn logical thinking and problem solving.  They also learn spelling very quickly.  If they come up interesting solutions to the puzzles, they have to spell the word correctly to see if it works or not. Scribblenauts Remix

How parents can help:

Play the game together with the kids, encourage kids try multiple solutions.  When kids are stuck, try to help them think, instead of offering a solution.  For example, if the puzzle is to cross a river, try offering ideas “something can float”, instead of “a boat”.

iGameMom Comments:

Scribblenauts Remix is a great game encouraging kids’ creative thinking and improving their spelling at the same time.  For $0.99, it is totally worth it.  It is available on iPhone, iPod, and iPAD.  Kids 9 or younger may find it hard to play simply because they cannot spell many words yet.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store button provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage.  Thanks for your support! Note: The button works for all countries.

    • Remix is what they name the app – looks like it has selected games from Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts for Nintendo, and additional 10 more games. So the app is definitely a better deal than that on Nintendo.

  • Used to be $5, now it is only $0.99, if ever want to get it, get it now!
