Addictive Skip Counting App

Addictive Skip Counting App post image

To master Multiplication and Division a student needs to begin with an understanding of the relationship between repeated addition, skip counting and multiplication. Speed! by Highhill Education offers Skip counting practice cleverly disguised as a fun and addictive (physical) card game. We are excited to share the app version of the game where you can now challenge a friend or your iPad.

There are eight decks of cards 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s, 6’s, 7’s, 8’s and 9’s. Deck 2’s is for skip counting by 2, Deck 3’s is for skip counting by 3, and so on.  Kids play one deck at a time.  They can have two players, or one player against the computer.

Each player starts with equal number of cards from the same deck and must quickly place their cards in skip counting order (forwards or backwards) on one of the card in the middle, from one of the four cards from Addictive Skip Counting Gametheir own stack. Keep an eye on the middle cards too because if the cards match you may tap the speed button and add all the played cards back to your opponent’s pile. The first player running out of cards is the winner! Kids (and adults) will be kept busy with 5 levels of play.

PiWi Mama Commnets:

I really appreciated that the game requires players to be able to skip count in both directions and from any of the numbers on the cards. While fast paced, the game is a non threatening way for kids to practice. There are no loud noises in the app to signal an incorrect answer and the lower levels give beginners plenty of time to make their moves (if they are playing again the iPad). Moving up a few levels gave my brain a good work out too! I highly recommend this app if you are looking for a math app that kids will ask to play again and again.  It is also a good family game, which it is also a valuable tool for increasing  confidence in students beginning or struggling with Multiplication and Division concepts.

Speed is available for iPhone, iPod, and iPAD.  It is $0.99 on App Store.  There is a Lite version that is free, but only has two speed decks, and is only available for iPAD.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
