FREE Apps: Learn shapes with Tiggly – interactive iPAD toy

Tiggly Safari

A while ago Tiggly shared with me their new product – an interactive iPAD toy helping kids learn shapes. I was very intrigued by the concept and agreed to review the toy when it is available.  Now I received the toy and I am pleasantly surprised at how well the toy function and how much learnings they put into their three free apps.  If you are looking for gift ideas for kids age 1 to 5, this is a great learning toy to consider.  We even got a 10% discount deal from Tiggly – look for the discount code at the bottom of this post.

Tiggly is an interactive toy teaching kids shapes and spatial thinking. In addition, the three free apps also encourage motor skills, hand-eye coordination, language and creativity.

Learn Shapes with interactive iPAD toyThe toy includes 4 shapes that are specially made to allow interaction with the iPAD in the apps: circle, triangle, star and square.  When you start the app, you can choose to use the app with the toys or without.  If you choose to play with the apps without the toy, kids can still use the app.  They will pick the shape from a sidebar instead of the toy.  But it is much more fun to use the real toy.

To start, kids are asked to unlock the games by putting 4 required shapes on the screen to match what is shown on the screen, one by one. Once they have all 4 shapes matched correctly, they can start to play.

In Tiggly Safari, kids have to pick the right shape to match what is shown on the screen to uncover the animal behind the shape.  While the shape is shown on the screen, kids also hear a female voice asking “Can you find the Circle?” When kids put the correct shape on the screen, the name of the shape will show on the screen and spoke aloud for reinforcement.  After kids uncover enough animals, they can record a story of the animals.

In Tiggly Stamp, kids place the shapes on the screen to create their own animal world and then tell stories about their creation.

With Tiggly Draw, kids can use the parts provided by the app and add them to the shapes of their choice to create a picture and save it to the picture roll.

Learn Shapes on iPAD with 3 Free AppsI love toys leveraging new technology. All three Tiggly apps are available on iPAD and are free.  You can use the apps without the toy, but the toy makes the experience much more fun and engaging.
