Super Why Phonics Fair – Early Literacy App from PBS Kids

Super Why Phonics Fair

Super Why Phonics Fair is another early literacy app for kids from PBS Kids. PBS really knows what they’re doing with all of their early childhood education programs. They make their characters so adorable and relatable, kids jump at the chance to play and learn along with them. When I told my son we had a new phonics app starring his friends from Super Why he nearly fell out of his chair. Super Why Phonics Fair App

This app of course meets common core standards and gets pre-k/kindergarten kids on a mission to sound out words by flexing their letter recognition. The app showcases thirty different word families and offers thirty more with an in-app purchase. The app also boasts a parent’s section where you can monitor your child’s progress. Plus with five different games kids can play at the ‘fair’…the phonics fair that is…there is bound to be a lot of fun.

Woofster’s Woof-De-Word Coaster is an introduction to the word families in the app.

Alpha Pig’s Whack-A-Word asks kids to recognize and choose words in a particular word family.

Princess Presto’s Spectacular Spelling Wheel has your child practice letter sounds to build words.

Wonder Red’s Wonder Words Ball Toss asks kids to identify and match three words with their corresponding photos.

Super Why’s Bumper Cars tests you child’s listening and reading skills to build words in a given family.

Kids have a choice in all the games to play with upper or lower case letters. Of course, after completing each game there is a prize to be won…a sticker! Oh goody!  When a player has enough stickers they can choose one of six backgrounds to decorate with all their fun sticky prizes. This is a very educational and fun app by a company we can all trust. Enjoy.
