Have you tried origami? Do you like it? We love origami. Origami develops kids’ logical reasoning, attention span, spatial thinking and fine motor skills. It is a fun activity for kids of all ages. Plus many of the final products can serve as toys for kids to play with. It is a fun activity for travel. It is also a nice quiet activity to calm kids down. Today we have an origami instruction app. 
We tried some origami books before. But it is very hard to understand the required folds sometime, because the print book is only 2 dimensions, and to learn origami really needs a 3D video. The app solved the problem easily. It shows the folds by showing step-by-step slow motion videos, so you can see exactly how to make each fold. In addition, there is also written instruction for each step to help you better understand what you are supposed to do.
The other thing that the app makes it easier to see how to make the folds, the app always use colored paper, one side is colored, the other side is white. This helps us to better understand the folding direction – do we fold it up or fold it down.
There are about 80 origami patterns in the app. When you first download the app, you will see some patterns under List. Make sure to click Downloads at the bottom of the screen. You will see more patterns there. You can pick the pattern you and kids would like to try and download the instruction. Once it is downloaded, you can go back to List, and you will find the pattern in your list.
There are many fun items in the app: jumping frog, elephant, crane, penguin, boat, lily, … The app tells you the difficulty levels and the number of folding steps needed to finish the pattern. These are very helpful for parents to judge which is likely an appropriate pattern for the kids.
