Fun Game for Visual Pattern Recognition

Fun Game for Visual Pattern Recognition post image

Link That Gugl is a fun app for any one, no matter how old you are. There are similar games on the App Store, but I like this one for the fun characters of the Gugls. Kids will gain visual pattern recognition and fine motor skills while playing. It is also a game for the family to play together.

Gugls are the cute and round little guys in different colors and hues. With two big eyes, baby’ish voices, and bouncy nature, you can’t stopping loving them. The goal of the game is to link as many Gugls of the same hues as possible, and only the links with 3 and more Gugls count.

You can link them horizontally, vertically, diagonally. Kids have to learn to identify color patterns quickly and decide which link will give them the highest score. Some time it can be tricky. Just as you think you find a good link, the movement of the Gugls makes the link disappear, and you have to look for links again.

Although the play sounds simple, but there are many different types of challenges: play with different time limits, play for highest score, play for biggest link.

As kids move up the level, they have to make the link of each color more than once to score. At level 2, they have link the same color twice to score; at level 3, they ahve to link the same color 3 time to score; so on so forth.

There is a companion app called Link Match, which is free, that allows players to connect with their friends and play competitive games.

Although the game could become quick challenging, young kids can totally just take their time to find the colors they can link. They can just play for scores against themselves; or play the game of “best score at each step”.

Link That Gugl is available on iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is Free for limited time.
