Free App: Learn about the Golden Gate Bridge with ABCmouse

Free App: Learn about the Golden Gate Bridge with ABCmouse post image

We reviewed the first book app in ABCmouse Search and Explore series, The Grand Canyon. Today we are sharing another book app in the series: The Golden Gate Bridge.  Like The Grand Canyon, The Golden Gate Bridge app is also free.

In this app, kids will follow the mice ABC and 123, learn the history and fun facts about the famous bridge. After finishing the books, kids will know why it is called Golden Gate Bridge, who designed the bridge, when the bridge is built, and many more fun facts about the bridge, like how many cars cross the bridge everyday.

There are 3 ways to read the book:

Read to Me: the book is read aloud from start to finish with no stops
Read with Pause: the book is read aloud, with pausing in between pages.
I can Read It: The book is not read aloud, and kids can read it themselves, or have parents read it to them.

The text is short and the vocabulary level and sentence length are perfect for kids who just start reading.  There is no word highlights while the book is read. I like how ABC likes to spell some words out, like “Let’s G-O go”. It is a nice way to help kids learn spelling.

There is a Golden Gate Bridge theme song at the end of the book. Kids can listen to the song anytime by tapping the music button at the left lower corner of each page.

On some pages kids can play games, like find all the animals in the water and learn their names.

There is a Glossary list with 12 words in it. Kids can learn some words they read in the book, such as cable, suspension, marine animals. Kids can access the glossary list at the home page. On each page in the book, if a word from that page is on the glossary list, kids will see the glossary icon on the left lower corner. Tapping on that icon, kids will see the word.

The Golden Gate Bridge is available for iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is FREE.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
