Learn Handwriting with iTrace App for Kids

Learn Handwriting with iTrace App for Kids post image

I listed iTrace app in the list of Best Handwriting Learning Tools for Kids, but have not had a full review. Today the app is free for limited time. I think it is a good opportunity to share a detailed review. If you are still looking for an app for kids to practice handwriting, this is a good one to use. If you are going to have kids practice handwriting on iPad, I highly recommend a child-friendly stylus.

I like iTrace for its many options.
Practice handwriting on iPad with iTrace app for kidsFirst it includes upper case, lower case, numbers, and words. You can use the words already included in the app, you can also add your own words. I like the post-practice mini-game: after writing the words, kids play an I-Spy game to find the objects of the learned words. For example, if they just practiced the word Pie, they will be asked to look for a pie in the I-spy game.

In the Parent Zone, parent can choose among three writing styles: Zaner-Bloser, Handwriting Without Tear, or D’Nealian. Parents can also decide if they want kids practice cursive or not. If your child is left-handed, you can change the setting to have the letter formation for left-handed persons. You can even customize some letters formation individually.

Also under Parent Zone, parents can print out the worksheets for kids to practice on paper. Parents can either print directly from iPad if it is connected to a printer via AirPrint, or parents can email themselves the worksheets as PDF files, and download the files on computers and print them out there.

Parents can keep track multiple children’s progress under the History tab. Parents can see all the letters, numbers or words each child practiced, number of good ones, and mistakes each child made. This is helpful for parents to know if a child needs help on certain letters.

iTrace is a very practical handwriting app for kids. It works on iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is usually $3.99. Today it is free.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

I am a kinder teacher and want to add this app to my class set of Ipads. Do you have a school/classroom rate?
    Thank you!
