Create Presentations and Video Stories with Shadow Puppet

Create Presentations and Video Stories with Shadow Puppet post image

Every time when we travel I like to ask my son to keep photos and to make a travel journal by the end. While doing this, he practiced his presenting and storytelling skills. In the meantime, we have a keepsake for us to review and remember what we’ve done for each vacation. It’s been fun for us. I introduced some best storytelling learning tools for kids, and today I have one more to share — Shadow Puppet.
Shadow Puppet App -- creating stories and presentations with photos videos
Shadow Puppet is a fun app for kids to put pictures and videos together as a whole story or a presentation. It is every easy to use, so kids as young as 6 year old can use it independently.

When you first start the app, you will see an introduction slide show with videos. Each slide is a short video showing you step-by-step from selecting images, to adding texts, voice, and music, to previewing, to sharing the final story. If you have never used Shadow Puppet, it is a good idea to go through the introduction.

The app is designed that you can take photos and videos from your device photo albums, websites, or several institutes like Library of Congress, MET Museum of Art, NASA, The British Library. Kids can pick one image or several. Once they have enough images, they can start recording their presentation.

They can add music and voice. They also have choice of adding music only. They can add text on top of the image. They can of course talk through the presentation and their talk will be recorded. They have options of different highlights they can use to mark certain areas on the image while they talk, and these are recorded as well.

After they finished everything, kids can preview the final package before they save it to the camera roll. They can also share on social media and email. Some of the sharing required parents’ consent.

I really love this app. It is so far the easiest to use, so ideal for kids just start on multimedia storytelling or presentation.

Shadow Puppet is available on iPhone, iPod and iPad. There are two versions of Shadow Puppet: Shadow Puppet Edu is the paid version, Shadow Puppet is the free version. The 2nd link below is the free version.
