What is DNA for Kids with Fun Games

What is DNA for Kids with Fun Games post image

I love Avokiddo apps for kids, they can always find the unique angle to make the learning fun. Today they launched the app DNA Play. DNA is a hard concept to grasp even for some grown ups. How to explain what is DNA for kids? Avokiddo designed a nice interactive game to do that. DNA Play is an entertaining app designed for kids age 6 to 10 to learn the concept of DNA.
How do you explain DNA and genes to kids? With this fun interactive app, kids will learn the basic concepts of DNA and gene, and how do they impact different life's shapes and functions. A fun STEM app for kids from preschool to kindergarten to school age.
It is a language free play, so kids from any country can use the app without any difficulties.

If you are not familiar with DNA, it is helpful to visit the For Parent section first. Here you will find settings, knowledge about DNA, and how to play.

There are 4 basic building elements of DNA and they are represented by 4 colored blocks of different shapes. Kids will found out quickly that there are in fact 2 pairs of blocks, that the two in the same pair always go together, and only when the blocks are paired with the right ones the funny characters will start to function.

For each character, there are 6 groups of DNA puzzles for kids to fix: head, eyes, mouth, arms, legs, torso. Within each group, there are 6 pairs of DNAs. Kids can rearrange the order of the 6 DNA pairs after they find the right blocks to fit in all the missing blocks. These represent the concepts that genes are made of DNAs that connect with certain sequence. The sequence of the DNAs determine many of the attributes of various living things.

Kids first have to find the right puzzle pieces to correctly pair the DNAs, then they can mutate the genes by changing the sequence of DNAs within the gene for each body part. Each time when they change the DNA sequence, they see the corresponding body part change. Once the characters are built, they will performance some everyday tasks, such as eating, sleeping, or playing. Kids can either touch a body part to see it change randomly, or to slide the horizontal bar at the top to move between genes or DNA groups to change the attributes of the corresponding body part.

Kids can save their characters by taking a picture of the character. The genes for this character will also be on the picture. What is fun to do is to start a new character from scratch, and build the genes following the same DNA sequence of a character already built. Are they the same?

DNA Play is a fun app teaching kids about DNA and gene. It is available on Apple Apple store, Google Play and Amazon App Store for $2.99.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
