Studio Pango have produced a cute interactive game for pre-schoolers. It’s engaging, easy to use and requires no language comprehension. Relying solely on images to provide instructions, it inspires imaginations and encourages creativity in a non intimidating way.
Pango Imaginary Car is the kind of app that could work very well with children who have learning needs, especially those in need of practise in the areas of fine motor skills. It’s also pretty good at re-inforcing logical thinking too.
The various components of this app are thoughtfully animated and allow children to create as many and as wide a variety of vehicles as their imaginations allow. From basic trucks, cars and trains to spaceships, robo vehicles, musical trains-the combinations are infinite.
There are eight different component categories from which to choose and they range from the practical like wheels, to the more idiosyncratic objects such as wings.
Once children are satisfied with their creation, they can set it to a backdrop from which there are five choices before making it move. Each component offers varying degrees of interactivity and there’s also the option to save your creation to the device’s photo album should you wish.
If starting from scratch is a bit too much for some users, there are also ten model templates for children to follow. In effect they are jigsaw templates, but with the added incentive of an interactive vehicle on completion. The templates range from fire engine and robot to helicopter and rocket to give you an idea.
This is a well designed educational app with the right balance of fun. It should happily keep children entertained for a while and may also appeal to slightly older children too if creativity and fun are their kind of things.
Pango Imaginary Car is available for iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is also available for Android. Its regular price is $3.99. It is currently on sale for $1.99.
