App Review and Giveaway: A Fun Math Book

Stop Math

Stop Math is a book app for kids in elementary school. It is about a boy Sparks, who lives in year 2106. He hates math, so he travels back through time and space to search for the person who invented math. His goal is to end math homework!

Through his journey, Sparks meets Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and a Persian mathematician Muhammad ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi. He learns Arabic numbers, Roman numerals, relativity theory, and gravitational attraction from these master mathematicians. He also learns math not only plays an important role in science discovery, but also in improving human being’s life.

The app is very easy to follow.  The math concepts are explained at kids’ level – fun and easy to understand. The interactivities are just right to keep kids interested and engaged, but not distracted. Kids can have the book read to them (in a boy’s voice), they can also turn off the sound to read by themselves. There is an interactive calculator in the app that kids can use to calculate the years Sparks have to travel.Stop Math App

What do kids learn:

Hey! I won! This was totally a surprise as I didn’t pay attention to the competition and didn’t actually realize I was in it!!!

Thank you so much and a huge Merry Christmas to you.

    • well, lucky you – used the right key words to be eligible, and be chosen as the winner! 🙂

I have just recently started homeschooling my youngest kid, who loves math but can still at times find it a bit tiring. This transition is opening me up to more technology and we now own an iPad (big step for us); this app looks really interesting.

    • This is a fun read. I have started to compile “best educational apps for kids” lists by subjects (Math, Science, Reading, etc) and age groups. If you just get an iPAD, I suggest you vist the lists to load some educational apps for homeschool. Here are two you might be interested: Elementary Science and Elementary Math.

  • I have a kid who hates math so anything that can make it fun sounds wonderful!

    • Hope the book will do the trick on your child as it did for Sparks!

  • Like I have said before in my other comments to you. I have a kid who loves math and science. He would love this app and I think it would work well with my other two who are coming up in the ranks! 🙂

    • Thanks for the note. I am sure it will be a great one for your kids.

  • How brilliant! What a wonderful way to make make maths exciting! I wish this had been available when I was a kid. 🙂

    • I truly think today’s kids are lucky. They have so much more resources available at their finger tips!

  • I am loving this blog. I have already downloaded several of your suggestions for my kids and they have all been hits. Thank you! Keep ’em coming.

    • Thank you and I will. This is what I am here for, finding the good educational apps for kids, so other parents don’t have to spend so much time on this.

  • Would you say both boys and girls will enjoy this?

  • One of my grand KIDs loves MATH.When he was a toddler, he was more interested in the page number on the picture book than on the story or drawing. This fascination with numbers has never waned.

  • Love it.

This sounds like a great app. Can’t wait to use it with my daughter.
    Thank you for sharing

  • I was on the look-out for a new math app for my 9-year-old kid. This looks both fun and educational!
