Kids Awesome 1st Grade Math Premium is a fun math game app designed for first graders. It covers the content from counting and number order to different operations, to telling time and geometry. Although it is designed for first graders, many kids from kindergarten to 2nd and even 3rd grade can benefit from the games.
The app doesn’t allow users to skip levels. Kids have to finish one level to unlock the next. I have not get chance to review all content. But from those I get to play, I like it.
The app is very game like, especially with the music on. However you can turn the music and sound effect off. Once you get into the play, the game is essentially quite simple. All kids have to do is to make sure to move the character to the right lane where the correct answer is. There will be some obstacles on the track that kids should avoid, but it won’t kill the character if he runs into them.
I also like that for each single math question, there is a play button for kids to tap on for the answers showing up on the running course, so if kids don’t feel ready, they can take a couple seconds break, or however long they need to be mentally ready to solve another math problem.
The level progression is gradual and is based on kids’ performance. The game start with filling the missing numbers of a series of number sequence. Then it start with simple single digit addition problems. According to the app description, its content is aligned to standard curriculum. There are 15 categories and 75 levels.
