App Went Free: Learn Color Science and Vocabulary While Coloring

Live Colors for Kids

Do you children like coloring and drawing? Today we have a coloring and drawing app to share, and it also helps kids learn color science and vocabulary. It is just updated and is on promotion. The full price is $2.99, but it is free today and then will be on promotion price for $0.99.

The app is actually quite simple. Toddlers or preschoolers can play on it on their own. On the opening screen, kids can choose to draw pictures on the blank pages, or coloring on a picture provided in the app. Live Color - draw - color - mix

What makes this app interesting is the color mixing feature. On the palette at the lower left corner, kids can mix more than one colors to create new colors. Tap on the little question mark, kids will see a new screen pop up with examples of color mixing. They will also hear the instruction on how to mix the colors. I know my boy loved mixing colors when he was preschool age. It is simply fascinating for kids of this age.

I also like the verbal instructions. Every time, kids pick a color, they will hear the color be spoken to them. It is especially helpful during the color mixing process. Kids will hear the original colors’ names, then the name for the mixed color they create. For example, if kids mix green and yellow, they will hear “green” when they pick up green, “yellow” when they pick up yellow, then “light green” after they mix the two colors together.

On the coloring pages, kids always hear a short description of the picture at the beginning. Of course, all the descriptions have colors. For the duckling picture, it is “Look, What a nice duckling. It has red feet and red beak, what color it will be”?
