Does your child like science? Or are you looking for some science learning material for your curious-minded kids? Today I found 3 wonderful science apps that are just set to free – the three apps in Science Through Photography series: Life, physics, and Earth. They are available for both iOS devices and Android. They are also available on the web.
All three apps are designed with children in elementary school in mind. For younger kids, parents have to read the content to them, but they may still enjoy the app, as the content is picture driven.
When kids open the app, they will see thumbnail pictures that pertain to the subject of the app. Tapping on any of them, will bring up the picture to full screen. There are numbered little balls on each picture carrying facts about the picture. Tapping on the balls, kids can read science facts about the picture. They also have the option to have the text read to them. If they want to, they can save the picture to their photo album.
At the home screen, kids can choose to add their own notes, with text, pictures, recording of their own voice or a sound effect.
There is a glossary list kids can refer to. There is also a quiz section. While the app is free, the additional quiz set is also set for free via in-app purchase. Make sure get the quiz set after you download the app right away, as it won’t be free all the time.
This is a great series of science app for elementary kids. Using photos as a media to teach science make the concepts easier to understand and easier to relate to. It is a wonderful science resource to have at home, even if they are not free. Don’t miss them while they are free, and don’t forget to download the additional quiz sets via In-App Purchase while they are free.
Science Through Photography has 3 apps in the series. Usually $4.99 for each, they are all free for limited time, including the additional quiz sets via In-App Purchase.
