App Went FREE: The Opposites – Improve Vocabulary While Playing Games

The Opposites

The Opposites is a game app helping kids learn opposite vocabulary.  Kids will have a good time acquiring new words not even thinking about learning, because it is a game.  In addition to learning opposite words, kids also improve their hand-eye coordination and reading speed, because to win a gold medal they have to find the right word and tap on the word quickly.

It is free now, but for a limited time.

Introduction at the app store:

An exciting word game which challenges children (ages 7+) to match up pairs of opposing words in increasingly difficult levels. ‘Opposites’ starts with easy word pairs, like ‘up-down’, but as players level up they are challenged with more complex and abstract pairings, until they are dealing with rare descriptive and technical words, from biology, economics, politics, medicine, poetry and classical Greek prefixes! The Opposites

The game also helps children understand the importance of word-context and is a great opportunity for them to think about how the words that they use oppose other words. This deeply ‘encodes’ new words as vocabulary, which will support them in their reading, writing and oral literacy skills.

‘Opposites’ includes a customized dictionary of word meanings and synonyms in a child-friendly format far easier to use than traditional paper dictionaries. This dictionary was designed and written especially for the game. Players can either learn the words before they play a new level, or, if they favor trial-and-error-based learning, they can jump right into the game and see how they do.

Can you make it to Level 10? Do you know what ‘efficacious’ means? Just what exactly is the opposite of ‘bear’?

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store button provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage.  Thanks for your support! Note: The button works for all countries.

  • Awesome! I have to look that up tonight – my kids and I love saying opposites to one another ‘just for fun’ at the supper table – they get a kick out of it- so I am sure that they will like the app too 🙂

  • Thanks for stopping by and liking my post. I’m glad you did because I’m happy to discover your blog for myself (I gets apps my GKs can enjoy) and to share it with my kids. This app is probably a bit advanced for my 3 year-old granddaughter, although it sounds like one I’ll enjoy for myself while I wait for her to grow into it! 🙂

    • You should definitely try it, especially it is free right now. I had good time playing the game. 🙂
