Toca Tailor is FREE for limited time, from typical price $2.99. iGameMom reviewed Toca Tailor Fairy Tale, a similar app from the same developer. While Toca Tailor Fairy Tale has two fairy characters for kids to play with, Toca Tailor has four characters. It is an app I would recommend even if it is not free, so grab it while it is on deal.
While in the app, kids pick one of the four characters they want to dress up: a boy, a girl, a lynx, or a sloth. They can use the fabric and accessories provided in the app, or use a picture from the camera roll, or use the built-in camera to pick some patterns around themselves. They can design the style and size of the clothes by tapping and dragging. Each time when kids make some changes on the design, the characters will give some reactions showing they like it or not, adding fun interactive elements into the play.
After kids finish the design, they can take a picture of the character. The picture will be saved to the device’s camera roll.
In addition to creativity, the developers have some really good suggestions on talking points parents can have with the kids while playing. Some suggestions are: how to dress for different occasions, such as going to school, beach, concert? How to put on the clothes, which one to put on first, which one to put on second? Parents can definitely use this app as a parenting tool for many situations in our daily life.
Toca Tailor is available for iPhone, iPod and iPAD. Usually $2.99, it is FREE for limited time on App Store.
