Do you like Curious George? We do, and who doesn’t? Today we share a reading app featuring Curious George. It is a new book from the iReadWith series. We have reviewed books in the series before, and loved all the features that helping kids learn, especially those that get kids to talk and make reading a shared experience between parents and kids.
Today’s new app is the digital version of the book Curious George and the Birthday Surprise. Like all books in iReadWith series, it is not just a book. The app has many great features helping kids learn reading.
What I like the most, it is the design that helps parents engage in the reading process. On each page, there is a discussion question that parents can ask kids. In the setting section, there are reading tips for parents on questions parents can ask and things they can do on each page.
The living Words is a fun way for kids to learn new vocabulary. Parents can help kids go into the setting, and find the living words section. Kids will see a row of pictures and each picture is associated with a word, like dog, hat, truck, mess. Tap on the word, kids can record themselves saying that word. Now every time when those recorded living words show up in the story, kids will be able to see it being highlighted, and if they tap on the word, they will see a light animation and hear their own reading of the word. What a great way to bring the words to life!
There are 2 ways to read the books: have it read to you, or read it yourself. In the setting, you can choose to turn off the interactivities on pages. You can also turn off music and sound effects.
There are 3 languages to choose from: English, French, or Spanish
