Curious About Shapes and Colors With Curious George

Curious about Shapes and Colors

What a fun way to learn shapes and colors with Curious George!

My son is a huge fan of Curious George books, so this app was an immediate hit in our household. This Curious George app focuses on shapes and puzzles through the storyline that George needs help putting back together his toys. It has easy enough puzzles for my 2 year old to play with while also some more advanced that he needs my help with.

This app is targeted for toddlers through kindergarten. This app hits many important developmental milestones. With shapes and puzzles a child is working on key developmental skills such as shape recognition, matching, sorting, pattern completion, and with all this on the iPad a child is going to improve their hand-eye coordination. Curious About Shapes and Colors

The game opens with the option to watch a short video clip by clicking on the ‘play’ button (in the shape of a computer screen) in the upper left corner. The video is just under 40 seconds and sets the scene that George is busy playing and has made a mess of his toys. The purpose of the game is then to help George put back together his toys.

There are six different ‘toys’ or levels within the game; each getting increasingly harder. Putting together each toy is a game in itself and after the puzzles are completed your child can play with the completed toy on screen and even play a short video game with that toy by pressing the game controller in the bottom left corner. So with all that in just one level, this game is sure to keep your child entertained for long lengths of time. The free play approach makes it appealing for children while also providing an educational foundation as they explore shapes, colors, and puzzles.

Daisy’s Comments:

I really enjoy how much is to this app. I feel that it is well worth the cost as it offers a wide range of skills and variety. My son loves the puzzles and has yet to even dive in to the world of the game at the end of each level; so I know this app will get much use over time.

Curious about Shapes and Colors works on iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is $4.99 on App Store. It is also available for Android on Amazon and Google Play.
