Dr Seuss Short Story Collection

DrSeuss Short Story Collection

Oceanhouse Media have pulled out another Dr Seuss app from their creative hats. Everyone’s favourite cat in a hat makes an appearance, along with an astoundingly large extended rhyming family including I Can Lick 30 Tigers Today, King Looie Katz about the king of cats, The Glunk that Got Thunk about a little girl who likes to think, as well as The Big Brag about a couple of show offs, The Zax where we meet two stubborn characters, Too Many Daves-in fact 23 to be precise, What was I Scared Of all about an unusual fear, and Gertrude McFuzz a bird with a droopy feather!

For those of you who have read my previous review of a Dr Seuss app by Oceanhouse, you’ll be aware that I wasn’t DrSeuss Short Story Collection Appterribly familiar with his stories, until now that is! I’m quickly picking up on the appeal and can even recognise the cat in the hat figure straight away now!

As with the previous apps, the original illustrations and text survive but with added narration and background audio. The interactivity centres on highlighting key words as the story is read to help young children, plus there’s the option of tapping on to individual words and pictures as you read through.

The app can be read in the familiar format of “Read to me”, “Read it myself” or “Auto play”. This makes the app flexible enough to appeal to a wide range of readers and ages. My young son enjoys listening to the stories, while my elder daughter will happily read them through on her own.

Available for both iPhone and iPad, it’s a valuable addition for all Dr Seuss fans out there. It retails at $7.99 on App Store.  It is also available for Android and Nook.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

I keep telling friends with small children about your website. Thank you for continually providing such great information! My friend’s oldest on was just in a production of Seussical, so this app is perfect for him.

    • Thank you Marie. It is great to have people see the value of our work and helping spread the word. Thanks for your support!
