Four Dr.Seuss Books To Read When Growing Up

Oh the Places You Will Go DrSeuss

March 2 is Dr.Seuss birthday.  We have a series of posts on Dr.Suess book apps.  The most popular ones are Six Dr.Seuss Books Teaching Kids Social Skills and Four Dr.Seuss Books with the Greatest Imagination.  Today we are sharing 4 Dr.Seuss books that kids should read through out their lives.

Oh the Places You Will Go: a good read for anyone starting a new life phase: going to high school, entering college, graduating from college, getting a new job, … Every time I read this book, I gain some new insights, depending on stages of life I am at.  It paints an honest picture: “You can get all hung up, in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on. You’ll be left in a Lurch”; yet never lose the positive reassurance: “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose”, “You’ll be on your way up! You’ll be seeing great sights! You’ll join the high fliers, who soar to high heights.”

Four DrSeuss Books to Read When Growing Up
Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are: In this book, Dr. Seuss reminds children that no matter what their struggles may be, they should always be thankful, a strong message delivered in classical Seuss style with rhymes and silly words. “Think of poor Ali Sard! He has to mow grass in his uncle’s back yard, and it’s quick-growing grass, and it grows as he mows it. The faster he mows it, the faster he grows it.”  Not just kids, anyone can use the reminder once a while, especially during the down times of life.

Happy Birthday to You: “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!It is worth a celebration just for being you.  When kids get older, being more independent, they will run into obstacles. There will be times they can use some encouragements. As parents, we can’t be with them all the time. This book would be a great read when there is a setback in child’s life, or anyone’s life.

You are Only Old Once: If you read the book, you would agree it is not a book for children.  Readers follow an elderly man through his checkup with the experts at the Golden Years Clinic, from the initial Eyesight and Solvency Test through all the stops along Stethoscope Row to finally being “properly pilled” and “properly billed”.  Why I would like my child to read it when he is in college?  I want him get the message via Dr.Seuss wit: appreciate the time you have today and make the best use of it, don’t wait till you are too old…
