FREE App: Feel Electric – Teaches Emotional Intelligence

FeelElectricApp

Feel Electric! is an app that teaches kids emotions and language skills, which are important building blocks for emotional intelligence. I introduced “ABA Flash Card and Games – Emotion”, which is designed for babies and toddlers. Feel Electric is design for kids 6 and older, or kids who have some basic reading and spelling skills. It is a fun app teaching kids emotion expression skills.
Free app helping kids recognize and verbalize different emotions and feelings, the first step to emotional intelligence, and a hard to teach social skill for kids
The app’s characters are from the cast of the PBS show The Electric Company. Through fun games and activities, it teaches kids to express their emotions in words. It helps kids to have better understanding of different emotions, and to verbalize the emotions in English language.

Some app features:

Mood dude: kids can make their own mood character by changing eye brows, eyes, mouth shapes, and arm gestures.  This helps kids have better awareness of the connection between body language and emotion.

Moodosphere: kids can choose 3 words from the list that describe their mood of the day. After kids pick 3 words, Jessica Ruiz, the lead character of the app will share one of her own story when she felt the same mood the kids felt. While doing this, kids will learn that it is normal to have different emotions and learn how to express their emotions.

Mood tales: 10 mood based zany story makers. Kids learn different moods in real life settings, with laughs.

Three mood vocabulary games: link facial expression with mood words. Kids learn how to recognize other’s mood while playing these games.

My Stuff: There are some emotion related pictures, songs, videos from The Electric Company. Kids can also add their own pictures, music, and videos.

Glossary: 50 emotion vocabulary words and definitions. Example: delighted, astonished, anxious.

How can parents help:

Play the games with the kids, so you can build some common mood vocabulary within the family. Find opportunities in daily life to encourage your kids use the emotional language they learned – a good start to the healthy reactions to different emotions and feels.

iGameMom Comments:

Feel electric is a fun-filled, interactive and educational app empowering kids with emotional expressions. While having fun playing games, kids will learn how to connect inner emotions to English words, and how to express their emotions in a healthy way, instead of bottling up or acting out negatively. It is a very well-designed app. It works on iPhone/iPod and iPAD. It is FREE at App store. It is only available in US at this time.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

These apps sound cool:) I’m all for things that teach children how to better understand their emotions!

It is a well designed app – fun and educational.

  • Oster's Mom

Thanks for posting this! I am definitely going to grab this today. The Electric Company was my favorite growing up. As I’m sure it has technically advanced, I am a sucker for nostalgia. I bought Oster the boxed set of the original Electric Company show. I’m pretty sure my husband and I are the ones who will be watching them religiously, as I don’t want Oster to go to school thinking that a very young Bill Cosby is the star of the show (the poor kid will come home crying not knowing who Lisa or Manny is).

It is one of my son’s favorite show too. Hope you will all enjoy the app.
