FREE App: Learn with WorldFriends

Learn with WordFriends

Learn with WordFriends is an educational game from WordWorld, the Emmy-winning show seen on PBS. It is a TV show teaching kids about words.  I found their website  have a lot great activity ideas helping young kids on their literacy.

In the app, kids will see the familiar characters if they’ve been watching the show.  They will play games building and discovering words with the 7 characters: Dog, Duck, Sheep, Ant, Bear, Pig and Frog.  There are three types of games for each animal.  All 3 games for dog are free with the free download.

WordRain: grab letters as they fall from the sky and put them in the appropriate place to build the word object! Each word has big picture of the object on top and the word spelled out on the picture, so kids don’t know spellings can also play.

WordScramble: Rearrange the scrambled letters in the proper order to spell the word object! Just like WordRain, it has hints so very young kids can also play.

WordMatch: A tile memory game that is fun for all ages!

Learn with WordFriends App Review on iGameMom

In addition to playing the games, kids can visit the WordFriends Farm where they can interact with the WordFriends.

With the recent updates, now the app supports Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.  Kids can pick a language by tap the question mark at the right bottom corner of the home screen.  Once a different language is chosen, the instructions will be spoken in the chosen language.  It is a good feature for bi-lingual or multi-lingual kids.  It can be a great ESL tool.

Learn with WordFriends works on iPhone, iPod and iPAD.  It is FREE to download.  All games for one animal, Dog, are free.  Each additional WordFriend can be purchased via In-App Purchase for $0.99 each.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
