FREE App: Stay Organized with Evernote

Evernote

If you are like me, you have tons of different things to keep track of – child’s after school activities, vacation plans, shopping lists, blog ideas, birthdays, work projects, school projects, …. It is so hard not to miss anything and stay updated on everything, till using Evernote.

Evernote is a free, cross-platform application that greatly simplifies the process of keeping track of notes, ideas, memos, lists, pictures, web clips, etc., into a single place and keeps them in sync automatically.

It is available for almost all the popular devices: Windows PC, Mac, BlackBerry, BlackBerry Tablet, Android, iPhone, iPAD, Windows Phone. Everything you do on your phone and on your computer gets synchronized to your Evernote account on the Web. Since it synchronizes as soon as you log on, and regularly thereafter, you don’t have to worry about different versions of the same note on different devices. No matter where you go, which device you are using, you always have the latest version of the notes, and don’t have to worry about losing data because of a crash.
Evernote Keeps Everything at One Place

You can freely edit the notes: move the text and images around, format the text, attach to-do bullets, tables, horizontal rules.

One of Evernote’s best features is that it allows you to add any type of file to your notes. This is done by dragging the file and dropping it on the note panel or by using the ‘attach’ button. You can take notes by recording sounds via a microphone. If you find something interesting on the internet, you can send the selected text, URL, or the entire webpage to Evernote by a quick click.

The killer feature (although I have not used this feature) is that it can index your images so you can find them later by searching for text in them. Use this tool to snap pictures of products you see in stores, to grab whiteboards in meetings/class, or to take pictures of people with name tags at conferences. You can find the pictures later by searching the words in the pictures you take.

You can import and export notes. Exporting notes come in handy when you want to create a back-up for your notes. Importing notes is nice when a friend gave you his/her notes (say you missed a class), or your spouse wants to share something with you. You can also share notes with friends via Facebook, Twitter and email.

There are two types of accounts: Free and Premium. The free version offers 60MB per month for uploading, while premium account ($45 a year, or $5 a month) offers bigger upload capacity (1GB a month), greater sharing options, access to note history, PDF searching, faster image recognition, and no ads. You can upgrade to premium account via in-app purchase.

iGameMom comment:

This is a very useful App for everyone – housewives, students, corporate workers. It helps you stay organized, save ideas and improve productivity. Try the free version first to have a feel, then you can decide if you want to upgrade to Premium or not.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store button provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The button works for all countries.

Evernote is one of my favorites. Great for pulling project ideas together. Love it. Thanks for sharing on this one.

    • Thanks for sharing! I am using it for almost everything now – reminder, notes, shopping list, trip planning, blog ideas, …. It is good to have everything in one place, and it is always with you.

I have this app on my phone but never bothered to see what it was. (I’ve still got one foot in the Stone Age when it comes to technology.) Thanks for this review – so helpful! 🙂

    • When I first starting using it, I was a little lost, they don’t have very good instructions. By try-n-error, I figured out how to use it, especially after figuring out how to add “tag” to each note. It makes searching note so easy.

Thanks so much for this review. My twins are still too young for a lot of the games you’ve listed (I’m keeping them in mind for the future, though!) but it’s nice to know about this … for me!

Thanks, too, for liking my “Hunger Games nailpolish??” post!

    • Thanks for stopping by. Do come back, there are a lot games for babies. I will start posting some soon.

        Great — I will!

I don’t think I used it to capacity last year but more than willing to try it again after this review.

    • I have not used all the features neither. The more I used it, the more I like it. 🙂

great review, I’m a BIG fan of Evernote, helps me keep track of so many different research topics ~ never know when you’ll need that perfect quote, article, etc.

    • Yes. One thing I forgot to mention in the review is the “tag”. It makes searching so easy. The more I use it, the more I like it.

I downloaded this app not too long ago but have not really gotten around to playing with it. Thanks for the review. Now I want to start using it.

    • Hope you will like it. Let me know which feature do you like the best.

I needed a new app after I got mad at task pro yesterday lol. Very awesome!

    • iGameMom

Try it out. Let me know how you like it.

I tried Evernote last year and found it too cumbersome. I like apps that are simple to use. I find it easer to just use the note pad app and the camera on my phone.
Nevertheless I still liked your review.

    • Good feedback Chris. It took me a while to get use to it. Once I started putting everything in it, I like the fact that everything is in one place and easily searchable.

I love Evernote, but know I’m not using it to it’s full capacity. Good review.

  • totaltrust

Great review, and I use it myself!
