Fun Challenging Brain Games for Kids

Fun Challenging Brain Games for Kids post image

While school coming to the end for the year, I start looking for fun games for the child – fun yet mentally challenging brain games. I just find out the free app of the week on Apple Store is a fun one — Quetzalcoatl fits my criteria of challenging brain games for kids. I have seen similar game concepts before, but the overall design of the game play is much more smooth in Quetzalcoat. It require visual identification of shapes and locations. Of course, like most game apps, players have to strategically planning out the steps of action to achieve the goal. It is a good game for school age kids to be challenged and to have fun at the same time.

The game play is simple: You see snakes with colored dots on a grid. Each spot on the grid is also colored. The goal of the game is to move the snakes so that the colored dots on snakes match the color on the grid spot that the snakes are on. It sounds very easy, but the app is very good at making it not so easy. Sometimes you can move the head of the snake to the right spot, but the tail just can not, either because the other snake is in the way, or a block is in the middle. To make sure all dots on snakes are matched with a spot of the same color on the grid, kids have to be able to think several steps at a time.

There are 4 general levels: Normal, Medium, Hard, and Ultimate. With Normal being the easiest, and Ultimate the most difficult. Within each level, there are 3 blocks of games, and each block has about 15 puzzles for the players to solve. The difficulty levels progress very smoothly and gradually. You have to finish a whole block to unlock the next block. With the initial download, you get the first block of each big level completely unlocked for you. So you have something to start with. There is an option to buy hints, but we usually don’t. When kids know they can’t use hints, they will work harder solving it themselves.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
