Fun Game for Visual and Dimensional Thinking

Fun Game for Visual and Dimensional Thinking post image

ROP is a fun game app. It is very easy, yet intriguing. It helps to enhance players visual and dimensional thinking capability. It is on free app of the week on Apple App Store, and it is also available on Google Play. It is a great way to help kids be familiar with different geometry shapes and key features of the shapes.

When you start the app, you are given some “ropes” with nods on them, and a pattern to replicate with the ropes provides. Your job is to move the nods on the rope around, so that the ropes form the shape pattern that is given to you. You can’t just move the nods anywhere. The nods can only be placed on the hexagon-shaped buttons that aligned in lines. When you move the nods, you have to follow the lines to move from one hexagon button to another. You also have to make sure the ropes are not going to tie together after the moves.

At the beginning, the patterns are pretty easy. As you move along, you will find the number of ropes and nods increase, so does the difficulty level. Players need be able to see how the patterns are formed and have good sense of the shapes, and depths of the shapes, ie., how the lines could tangle together if they are not moved in the right order. To be successful in the game, one needs visual distinguish skill, visual and spacial thinking skill, and strategic planning skill. I see it a great supplement for geometry study.
