How to Have FREE Unlimited Photo Storage on iPhone and iPad

Shutterfly

Is photo storage an issue for you? I have been looking for free picture storage apps and online photo storage options for a while. Many suggested Amazon photo storage, but it is only free when you are Amazon Prime member. Is there any other free options? I just find a perfect solution. Shutterfly has free apps for iPhone and iPad and other devices that provide unlimited storage space off your camera.

Update: Don’t use Shutterfly. I just lost all my photos in my Shutterfly account. All of them. I called and emailed support, they just said they can’t get them back. Years of memories disappeared just like that. NEVER Use Shutterfly anymore!

There are two separate apps from Shutterfly, one for iPhone, and one for iPad. To have the unlimited storage, you need sign up for a free account. Now there is a deal for new members – if you sign up now, you can have 50 free prints. You can sign up the new account via the apps or on their website.

Once you sign in into your account, tap on My Photos on the top left corner of the screen. You will see on the left 4 photo sources: iPad (or iPhone), Shutterfly, Facebook, and Instagram. Tap on Shutterfly, then My Album, then Create New Album. After you create a new album, tap on Upload Photos on the top right corner. The app will ask you to choose a photo album from your device, and pick the pictures you want to upload. Now you just wait for the photos to be loaded into your Shutterfly album. Once they are in the Shutterfly album, you can delete the photos from your device.

Shutterfly gives users unlimited photo storage with no time limit. You can keep the photos there for as long as you need to. This is a great advantage over iCloud via photo stream, that only keeps the photos for one month.

You can view the photos anytime via the app, or on the website. You can share the photos via email and social media, like Facebook or Instagram.

I love the apps, for the unlimited storage, unlimited time period, and anytime access on my phone and iPad.

The Shutterfly app is available on iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is also available on Google Play for Android. The first link below if for iPhone, and the 2nd is for iPad.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

Hi — The instructions given for this appear to be outdated. None of the four places that you indicated should show up when you tap My Photos actually shows up. Just the timeline.

I would be interested in learning some apps with my IPad and android phone.

Great tip! I often have to clean my iPhone off because of all the photos I take.

I’d love for you to share this tip with my readers at my Fabulously Frugal Thursday party!

    • Glad it is helpful, and thanks for the invite. Will have to stop by when I get a chance.

I am trying to save space on my phone. After I upload my pictures to shutterfly, can I delete them from my phone but keep them on shutterfly?

      • In theory, yes.

I tried to free up space on my IPhone by deleting photos that had already been uploaded to my Shutterfly account, but when I deleted the photos from my Phone, they were all also deleted from my Shutterfly account so I don’t know how to free up space on my phone. (Fortunately I was able to recover my photos from my IPhone and then upload them again to Shutterfly! Whew!:) Any suggestions? Could this be happening because my IPhone is also sync’d to Google Photos?? I’m at a loss!

          • That is weird. Did you actually upload into Shutterfly? Now the “Upload” button is at the bottom of the screen. After uploading the photos, you will see two sections when you tap on “Photo”. The top section says “My Albums” — this is the place you see photos that are loaded into Shutterfly. The bottom section is “Local Photos”, this is showing what photos you have on your phone that you can load into Butterfly. Hope this helps.
