Today we are sharing another fun Little Critter App! Based on Mercer Mayer’s Just My Friend and Me, it is a great way for kids to learn about summer play date etiquette.
Little Critter is excited when his mom lets him invite his friend over for a play date. With a day full of activities, things don’t always go as planned. As they run and jump and climb, his buddy seems to do everything just a bit faster or higher. He is also, at times, a bit bossy!
That doesn’t stop Little Critter from enjoying himself, as usual he uses his humorous reasoning to explain things. Eventually the kids are worn out (and sporting a few bumps) and it is home time. By this time, Little Critter realizes, it can also be fun to have some quiet time.
All Oceanhouse Media apps feature ‘Auto play mode’ where a narrator reads the story aloud. Older children can also choose to read it silently or record themselves reading it aloud. The words and illustrations are interactive. In any mode, if they are tapped, the corresponding word will fly towards you and be read aloud. The Mini game in this story requires the reader to spot a mouse friend on each page.
I would recommend this app to parents and caregivers looking to discuss appropriate play date behavior. It is another great Lil Critter book for your collection. Parents will appreciate that it promotes outdoor activities and teaches a positive attitude. The app definitely encouraged my children to get up and run around after they read it. We just needed to wait for the Texas weather to ‘cool off’ before they could do it outside!
