I love Dan Russell-Pinson’s apps. I am sure you will if you know some of his apps: Stack the States, Stack the Countries, Monster Physics. Tipping point is one of his more recent release, and it is a fun one too.
The app instantly became my son’s most favorite game once we downloaded it and what I really like is it became a family game too – we would sit together figuring out the puzzles and solutions together.
When you start the app, you see a beautiful house, after you go inside the house, you see a TV screen and someone is relaxing on the couch with a bag of chips. It took me a while to figure out what to do, till I found out there is no punishment using the hints. Following the hints, we turned on the TV, signed up the travel channel, and followed the channel we arrived at an island …. Every single step of the storyline requires the player to solve several puzzles. For example, we know we need turn on the TV to get the channel we should, but a heron was standing on top of the remote. We have to figure out how to get the heron off the remote, so we can turn on the TV. The hints are very helpful, if ever you felt stuck. But once we get the hang of it, we tried not to use the hints as much, it is fun to figure out what to do and how to do.
The whole story is intriguing, and the puzzles are fun and weaving in the story line very well. The visuals are realistic and the sceneries, especially those on the island are beautiful. Playing the game is like reading a mystery book, but you are part of the story creation. I agree with what is said on the App Store: it is an “adventure game that stimulates both sides of your brain”.
Tipping Point Adventure Game is available for iPAD, it is $1.99 on App Store currently with 30% off. There is a lite version that is free, with one chapter of the game (the full version has 5 chapters).
