Now on Mobile Devices: Goodnight Moon

Good Night Moon

Goodnight Moon was our favorite bedtime book for years.  I was really happy to see it on App Store.

Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd created the book 65 years ago.  It is a children’s book you will always like to read and enjoy the reading no matter how old you are.  This app version stays very true to the original print book, with added interactivities to some images.

There are 3 ways to read the book: Auto Play, Read to Me, Read by Myself.  There are some interactivities on each page, but they are not too many to distract kids from the reading.  Here is the description from the app store: “With a touch, swipe or tilt of the screen little fingers send the cow jumping over the moon and make the three little bears chatter and laugh in their chairs. Find and follow the tiny mouse playing hide and seek and discover hidden surprises on every page. Empty theGood Night Moon App bowl of mush, make the mittens wave good-bye and hear the old woman whispering hush while shooting stars, purring kittens and slowly fading light help your own little bunnies drift off to sleep.”

App Features:
• Goodnight Moon features over two hundred touchable objects, animations and hidden interactions to discover.
• Drag and pop your favorite toys off the page.
• Personalize your copy of Goodnight Moon with additional photobooth, printing and sticker book features.
• This book belongs to… Write your name in the book to make it yours.
• Magnify the original illustrations and discover hidden objects in our unique Spyglass Dream mode.
• Jump to any page in the book with our handy table of contents
• Hear individual words spoken with the tap of a finger. Educational features including word-highlighting, touchable words and professional narration improve and encourage young readers.
• Enjoy the book read with calm and captivating narration, set to a charming piano soundtrack. Or, read the book in Read Myself and Autoplay modes.

In addition to the original book, the app also has Goodnight Moon ABC: An Alphabet Book and Goodnight Moon 123: A Counting Book. Both can be bought via In App Purchase.

Goodnight Moon is available for iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is also available for Android. It is $4.99.
