App Went Free: Learn Money Management with Dinorama

Dinorama

I always like simulation games, because they offer open-ended play, kids gain skills in problem solving and creative thinking. They are usually easier for parents to get involved and play together with kids.  Some of my favorites are Tiny Tower and Oregon Trail.

I am really excited to find out Dinorama is free today.  It is a simulation game designed for kids, with no in-app purchase.  In the app, kids will create and manage their own dinosaur theme park: buy land; build buildings, such as bathroom, popcorn stands; set up photo booth and other entertainments; decide which dinosaurs to bring in the park; purchase food; repair facilities; …  This is a long list of responsibilities.

Via play, kids learn to manage time, resources, and money. They will make money via park tickets, offering food and entertainments. In the meantime, land, dinosaurs, park maintenance, food will cost money.   They will also learn that investing money pays interest and spending money on low-quality improvements won’t bring rewards and can sometimes cost more in the long run.Dinorama Simulation Game - Teaching Kids Money Skills

They will also learn to keep customers happy by listening to them and offering services they want.

If they hire a tour guide, kids can learn dinosaur facts along the game play.

iGameMom Comments:

Dinorama is a great simulation game with built-in lessons on business and money management. Many simulation games have In-App Purchase, ie, they require players to buy game money with real money to keep game going.  I am glad Dinorama don’t have In-App Purchase. It is a very safe environment for kids to play and explore.

I highly recommend parents play along with kids and build a dinosaur park together.  If you are looking for teaching ideas, refer to my article What can you teach your child with Tiny Tower.

Dinorama is available for iPhone, iPod, and iPAD.  It is usually $1.99 to $2.99, it is free for limited time on App store.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
