Free App: Help Kids Manage Time with Kids Countdown

Kids Countdown

Help kids learn manage time is not easy. Do you ever have trouble asking your child finish a task within a certain time? When you tell a child “you have to get dressed in 5 minutes, or we will be late” and then watch him play toys while getting dressed, what will you do? It is really hard for young children to understand how long 1 minute is, and it is very easy for them to get distracted. I hope today’s app can help kids manage time. For limited time, it is free on App Store.

It is called Kids Countdown – Visual Timer for Preschool Children. Just like the app name suggested, it provides kids friendly visuals and sound effects to keep kids on the timer, and hopefully finish the task on time. Help Kids Manage Time with Fun App

The app is very simple. When you start the app, there are 6 times for you to choose: 1 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 15 seconds, and 30 seconds. You can choose any of the time period, or pick your own by using the “+” and “-“ on the right, next to the 6 time choices.

After you pick the time period, you can choose a theme. There are 5 themes, each theme is a different animal, like dog, horse, tiger. When both time period and theme are set, you hit the go button. The clock starts running.

At the beginning, kids will see a picture covered with leaves and a circle completely in orange. As the time goes, the leaves will disappear one by one, and the theme animal behind the leaves will come out at the end and make a loud noise. In the meantime, the orange circle will show purple following the line running clockwise. When it is close to the finishing time, kids will hear the clock ticking as a warning. When the time is up, the full circle is purple.  If kids can read, they will see “Time is Up” on the circle.

iGameMom Comments:

The app does a very good job in providing various reminders to kids: visual with picture, visual of a pie chart, animal sound, music, clock ticking sound. Since each child is different, you may find one type of signal works better for one child, and the other type works better for another child. Hope one of the signals will work for your child.

Kids Countdown works on iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is free for limited time on App Store.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
