iBook Review and Giveaway ($25): The Ultimate Guide to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Ultimate Guide to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Time flies.  There are only couples days left before Christmas.  Have you had the gifts ready for the kids?  Are they getting books?  Here is a book you will never regret if you get it for your child: The ultimate Guide to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  It is not an app, instead it is an iBook that you get from the iBookstore.  If it is confusing, you can use the iBook link at the end of this post.  It will take you directly to the book on iBookstore.  Once you purchased the book, you can read it on iPhone, iPod, or iPAD, using the iBook App coming with your iDevice.  What is even better, it is now 50% off at $3.99 on iBookstore.

What is this book about?  It is an interactive book taking kids through the “chocolate factory” with stops at many parts of the factory for crafts, science experiments, games, and treats.  When kids visit the Chocolate River, they can make Chocolate Strawberry Fudge Sandwiches with materials you can easily find in your kitchen.  Yes, it is for real, not just on your iPAD.  But the recipe is so easy, school age kids should be able to handle it with your help.  Before kids enter the Inventing Room, they get to make Waterfall Hot Chocolate.  Again, for real with a real and fun recipe!  When they are inside the Inventing Room, they can learn everything about Gobstopper: why it is called Gobstopper, how to make it; then play games with Gobstopper.  When it is time to go Up and Out, kids will build a Sweet Up and Out Tower… With over 20 crafts and activities for the entire family, the book “brings children and parents together to re-live the wonder and amazement that Charlie experienced during his trip through Willy Wonka’s world of magic and chocolate”.

The whole book is very well designed.  Kids can choose wherever they want to go, either by picking the place from book chapter list, or by tapping on the interactive map.  The language is written at early elementary school level, so school age kids should be able to read on their own.  Younger kids will need parents or older siblings read for The Ultimate Guide to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Bookthem.  The pictures are beautiful, and you can feel the wonderful magic on each page.

What Do Kids Learn:

Kids learn chocolate related science and facts, they also learn how to follow instructions when making treats with recipes and crafts with guidelines.  Most importantly, they are not buried on the iPAD.  It is a book gets the kids do things and interact with others.

iGameMom Comments:

I am so excited about this book.  It takes kids off the screen with so many creative ideas.  With all the family activities, it brings the whole family together.  I have read so many articles about the concerns of physical isolation for today’s children (connecting on Facebook, but not face-to-face).  This book offers a great breakthrough against the “isolation” concern, a positive example of leveraging new technology in kids education.  Hope we will see more books like this one.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the iBookstore button provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The button works for all countries.

Wow! I never would have known about this! My kids will love all the engaging crafty creative activities. I think it’s awesome that Charlie’s journeys can be as long or short as you want. So it just depends on how much time you have/want to spend with it at that particular time.

    • The activities in this book are amazing! All activities are connected with the story. You can tell the author put in a lot thoughts in it.

Oh, my kids love this movie…so just based on that, I would love this app. Also there is the bonus of cooperative, creative learning. I am always looking for opportunities for activities such as these and since they already love this timeless story, I know this would be a hit. I think I might get this while it’s on sale. Thank you.
