Reading Activities to Help Kids Read More – Mom’s Library

Mom’s Library

How has your summer been?  Do you have plans on things to do in the summer?  One thing we want to do is to read more, especially to go beyond our typical reading topics, which means books that don’t look or sound interesting, but we know are good books from various sources. These books will be harder to go through – that is why I am extremely happy to see many articles on book related activities are shared at last week’s Mom’s Library.  These activities will help make the book reading more interesting and will also help kids understand the books better.

I really liked the idea of the Surprise books. It looks like an effective way to get kids into some books they would other wise not to read.

Putting child’s picture into the books they are going to read is another way to increase their interest in reading more.  What books you think you can put your child’s picture in?

Have you ever tried to map out the stories your child is reading?  This is definitely something I want to try.  In addition to reading, kids will learn some geography too.  Make sure to read the article, as there are several interesting ways to do it.

I also liked the idea of reading labels, since labels are practically every where, so you and your kids can read all the time!

Many book lovers celebrated Eric Carle’s birthday by doing activities inspired by his books.  Have you done any of these activities inspired by Eric Carle’s books?  They looked so beautiful!
