TeenSphere – A Teen’s Self-help App

TeenSphere

I reviewed TeenSphere several months ago.  After a group discussion about social well being apps, I went back to this app again.  I saw significant updates that worth a review update.

TeenSphere is an app teens can use to access help and consulting to sensitive and challenging questions they face in everyday life.  Some example questions are “I feel really moody – what’s going on?”, “I feel sad a lot.  Am I depressed?”  The app provides answers to these questions without judgments.  It tells the kids what is going on in their body, what is normal, what is not normal, what they can do to help themselves, what are the resources that can be helpful (such as website, books, 800 numbers to call), what are the signs that they should start seeking adults and professionals’ help.

The app is designed by licensed psychotherapist who worked with kids for years.  The topics it covers are all from teens’ real life concerns and worries.  Originally there are 8 categories of questions: Feelings, Bullying, Self-harm, Eating disorders, Relationships, Stress, Self-esteem, Drugs/alcohol.  With the new update, they added a new category LGBT.  The content is very professional, and the writing is very easy to follow, but pretty formal, which some teens may not like.TeenSphere App

iGameMom Comment:

What I like the most about this app is the teens can access the app discretely from the privacy of their cell phones.  Most of the questions addressed here are quite sensitive, and many teens are not comfortable talking about these with parents or professionals.  This could be an effective tool for them to learn about themselves and to take appropriate actions if necessary.

Compared to several months ago, I am quite  impressed at how much improvement they’ve made: new graphics, new interface, and a new category of content (LGBT).  When I first reviewed, it only worked on iPhone, now it also works on iPAD.  With all the upgrades, the cost is still the same $0.99.  With all the benefits it offers, this is considered a great value.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

It is a good app, expecially, there are not many apps targeting kids this age. I admire the designers, they are not programmers, they are actual people working with teens. Please help get the words out, even just one kid get the needed help from the app, it is worth it.

  • Thanks for the like on my blog.

I like the information and function of your blog, great initiative.

This is an app worth sharing again.

  • I am amazed at all the things that exist. Thank you for pointing them out!

    • There are way too many apps out there. It is crazy, isn’t it?

  • This is brilliant! I so respect this. Oh sigh, wishing it were there when I were a teen BUT WHATEVER, IT’S HERE NOW! 🙂
BTW I’m not signing in as wordsfall – I’m signing in as VodkaWasMyMuse & I have no idea why my avatar isn’t saying that!! This is my true first time of branching out, & I don’t understand why you can’t see my grab, VodkaWasMyMuse.

    BUT! Brill 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by and liking the post. and hope you will figure out about your mixed up avatars.

  • Tag, you’re it! Somehow, I ended up in a game of tag and I’m now tagging you! Here is the question I asked you; http://triedtestedandtruemommy.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/tagged/

    • Looks like a fun game, but I have some posts line up I want to get out, I will check this out later.

  • I have enjoyed immensely reading your blog. As a writer I know you will understand if I am absent from making comments for a couple of months. I have two books I’m writing and the push is on to get them finished…so with only 24 hours in the day, I am going to continue to read and like, but my comments will be limited to replies for those who comment on my blog…thanks for the grace.

    Be encouraged!

    • Thank you for your support! You have to share your books when you finish them!

    • Ah! Here you are saying ‘be encouraged’ on this site! I just opened a new branch of my tale – an advance of my tale – and I named my new blog http://www.vodkawasmymuse.wordpress.com. But I haven’t told my general population because I don’t assume that they who love WFFME will actually appreciate this CURRENT branch – but as I see you here, Stephen – hello! Lovely to see WHERE you are active. True 🙂

This is a wonderful, thoughtful Blog! Check it out!

  • This is powerful stuff for tweens/teens. What a helpful App for them (and parents too; so they can see what type of information is given to their kids). Teens are very emotional and, yes, there are SO MANY things going on in their daily lives. Any extra support can only be beneficial to their emotional development. And for only 99 cents, why wouldn’t you download this? It’s cheaper than a song.

    • Thanks for making me aware of this app., it can be such a useful tool.

    • Well said, Oster’s Mom. One key thing is for them to have access to the help they need. This could be the one.

  • Thanks for sharing the blog.

  • thanks for the re-blog.
