Wooden Puzzles that Sing

BeBop Blox

If you are looking for a fun preschool puzzle app then this app is for you! Bebop blox is a new App from the creators of some of our other favorites like Endless Alphabet, The Monster at the end of this book and Thomas: Hero of the Rails, Callaway Digital Arts.

Wooden blocks have been used by kids for generations for building and creating. Bebop Blox is a shape matching puzzle with colorful wooden blocks. You may have seen real life puzzles like this already. This is where the similarity ends!  In this puzzle each block features a ‘Bop’, a singing playful creature. Did I also mention that the blocks are ‘delivered’ to you via a conveyor belt?

When the App opens there are 12 animal and transport themed picture tiles on a wooden door (with the promise of more coming soon). When one of the pictures is selected the doors open to reveal a stage and the shadow of the picture you will be trying to build. The blocks start appearing on the belt at the bottom of the screen. As each correct block shape is dragged onto the puzzle, it’s Bop will start making its own noise or rhythm. By the time the puzzle is complete you have a little symphony playing! A fun extra is the ability to isolate the sound of each block and shower the stage with glitter stars to celebrate.

Our 3.5 yr old is really enjoying the musical aspects of it and enjoys manipulating the sounds of each character to create her music. I was really impressed with the graphics and sound. The blocks look like realistic wooden blocks and the creatures are a nice balance between cute and weird. The sounds are fun but not repetitive or annoying! I would recommend this app for all kids age 4 and under. Older children may enjoy it too but with only a limited number of puzzles in the game (at the time of this post) they may grow out of it fairly fast.

BeBop Blox works on iPhone, iPod, and iPAD.  It is $1.99 on App Store.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

Nice that this app is a take off of the real wooden building blocks. I strongly believe the good old toys are the best… proof of that is when they are imitated/replicated in the digital world. I may consider getting this app for my 6 year old, along with a classic real life building block set.

    • I totally agree. Those old fashioned building clocks will always have a position in kids’ toy world.
