App Went Free: Word Wonderland

Word Wonderland App

Word Wonderland is an app helping kids practice phonics in a game setting.  The content is designed for kids in grade k to 2.  It is FREE for limited time.

When kids start the app, they can choose between Explore the World and Practice.

Practice is where they just practice, with no level advancement.  Kids can choose what they want to practice and at which level.

Explore the World is the game setting.  Kids start at level 1 and advance to higher level as they solve the problems.  There are 3 worlds to explore and each has 6 levels.  The game play concept is simple – kids have to find the right word to fill the missing lily pad for the frog to hop to the goal.  Along the way, kids can help the frog collect stars.  There are some tricks in gaining stars, all can be found under Tips, if you tap on the tools logo at the top right corner of the screen.

The app covers Short vowels, long vowels, vowel families (such as ab, en, in), r-controlled vowels (ar, ear, or), blends (bl, pl, cl), and diphthongs (ch, sh, ng).

iGameMom Comments:

Overall this is a good phonics practice app, with thorough coverage.  Kids will have better comprehension of phonics after playing the games.  My only wish is some different types of games in the app.  There is basically one game filled with different contents.  It will help to keep kids engaged if there are a couple different types of games.

Word Wonderland works on iPAD.  It is usually $1.99 on App Store.  It is FREE right now for limited time.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
