Phonics apps are tough to create. They need to be able to keep a child engaged without distracting them too much from the learning at hand. Froggy Phonics app is based on an award-winning board game. In the app kids are engaged as they hop a cute frog from lily pad to lily pad in search of a correct word. Even as an adult, I must admit it’s a pretty good time.
At the bottom of the screen kids will find a clue in the form of a letter or a combination of letters placed either at the beginning, middle or end of the word they have to look for. 
For example, in Level 1, the clue might look like this: L____
Kids will have to decide not to jump on the lillypad with a word like start. That starts with an S. Instead, they need to jump onto a word like light, since it starts with L. Once they jump on the correct word, it’s spelled out in the middle of the screen and read out loud to reinforce the sound of the letter, or combination of letters makes. Hop on the right lillypad 15 times and you get to move to the next level.
A Level 2 clue might look like this: ____p.
Is it the lillypad with the word start, or the one with the word stop?
A Level 3 clue? It looks something like this: __ea__
Is it the lillypad with the word cook, or the one with the word meal?
Then, just for fun there is a hidden froggy in every level. If you find him you get a little picture added to your picture collection.
