App Went Free: A Fun Photo Video Collage App

PicPlayPost App

PicPlayPost is a photo video collage app.  What makes it different is its ability to have videos in the collage and many editing capabilities right inside the app.  It is free today for limited time.

Like most collage apps, PicPlayPost has a good selection of collage frames. You can also change the frame ratio. By default, it is 1:1, but you can change the ratio 4:3, 3:4, etc.

Within the big frame, you can drag the edge of each picture to change the size of each picture or video window.  I like this feature a lot, since many times you realize you need a little bigger window to show just a little more of the picture, or a little smaller window to cover a particular part of the picture you don’t want to show, and you won’t know until you actually see the picture in that window.  You can change the color of the frame and how big of the space you want between the picture/video windows.Fun Photo Video Collage App - with learning activity ideas

One feature I particular like is the ability to edit the picture right inside the app.  You can flip the pictures. You can also adjust the color of the pictures on color saturation, brightness, and contracts, after you load the picture into the frame.  You can change the color tone of the picture, like sepia or vintage.  You can even turn the picture into a sketch.  If you can want to showcase one small part of the picture, you can enlarge the picture to let only part of the picture shown inside the window.  The attached image shows you some options you can do with your picture in the app.

One most unique feature of this app is the ability to add videos as part of the collage.  After choosing a video, you can pick only a part of the whole video to be added, you can mixed the video with your choice of music. Of course, you can change color tones and zoom level of the video.

Overall, PicPlayPost is a fun collage app that functions very smoothly.  You can share the collage via email, facebook, twitter, and Instragram.  This will make holiday sharing much more fun!

In addition to having fun, it can also be used in learning activities.  kids can use it to create stories.  Especially for young kids, who have not comprehend the skill of storytelling yet, putting pictures together is a nice first step moving to good storytelling.  Here are some learning activity ideas:

  1. Read a picture book with the child, then take some pictures from the book to be saved in your device’s photo album.  Then asking kid to put the pictures in order according the story in the book.  Depends on the kids, you may even ask them to recite the story based on the picture sequence they put in.  You can then share the story with family and friends.
  2. While going out, or attending an event, taking pictures and videos together. When you are home, select the pictures to put together, and ask kids to tell the story of each picture/video.
