Free App: Early Reader Storybook App Incredi-Ride

The incredi-ride

Almost all children I have met like visiting amusement parks. Today’s app is an early reader storybook app about two bears visiting an amusement park. Migo and Pandy are looking forward to go on the Incredi-Ride. But the ride is out of order. Is someone going to fix it?

The book app offers two reading levels: Toddler (age 2 to 3) and Preschooler (age 4 to 5). Free interactive early reader storybook - Incredi-Ride

For toddler, the sentences are shorter with about 5 to 10 words in each, and 1 to 2 sentences on each page. There are picto-words in the sentences to help comprehension and word introduction. For example, a roller coaster picture represents the word “ride”, a wrench picture is in place of the word “wrench”.

Kids have two options to read the book: Read Together, with no narration; and Read to Me, with narration.  When using Read Together option, parents can find question suggestions at the top right corner of each page. The questions range from general knowledge “what can you find at a fair?” to vocabulary learning “What does Out of Order mean?” to comprehension “What is Rocco’s Job at the fair?”

When using the Read to Me option, kids will see individual word be highlighted when the word is read.  The picto-word will show up as word when read. In both options, if kids touch the picto-word, the real word will show up, and be read aloud in Read to Me option.

For preschooler, the sentences are longer and there are 3 to 5 sentences on each page. All features for toddlers are available for preschooler, except that kids won’t see picto-words here. In addition to the two options for Toddlers, Preschoolers have one more option Read-Along.

The suggested questions in Read Together option become a little more specific about reading and vocabulary, such as “find the two different sounds of the letter S makes”.

In Read-along option, kids can practice word to word reading and record the character’s voices by themselves. Kids can tell the part they can record their own voice by the bold blue highlight on the words, followed by a picture of microphone.  All they have to do is to tap on the microphone and start recording.

On each page, there are some fun interactive features. The illustration is bright. The background music is fun and pleasant, matching the story setting well. The narration is professional and child friendly.

It is a wonderfully designed early read book app. I love the suggested questions on all pages. They make the reading together experience more interactive and engaging.
