Fun Art App for Kids Creativity – Mini Monet

Mini Monet App

Mini Monet is a fun art app for kids. I like the fine artistic taste of the app and its many different options for kids to explore different aspects of the art activities.

When kids open the app, they will see a street scene set in Paris. They will see the Eiffel Tower in the back, and many young artists on the street. Tapping on any of the artists leads kids to an art activity. Kids can choose Color, Draw, Symmetry, Challenge, or Art Club. fun art app for kids creativity - Mini Monet

Color:

There are 9 categories of coloring pages for kids to choose from: Flowers, Dinosaurs, Princesses, Dragons, Kids, Transportation, Fairies, Animals, and Pets. In each category, there are about 10 pictures for kids to color.

Kids can choose different coloring tools: pencil, brush, or marker. They can adjust the line thickness and color transparency level of the coloring tools. In addition to different colors to choose for the lines, kids also can choose patterns for the background and stickers to add to the picture. They can also pick colors and patterns for the stickers.

While coloring, kids can zoom in certain areas to get the small parts. If they don’t like what they just did, they can undo those steps. What I really liked is the set-up to prevent kids from coloring outside the lines. Once kids pick an area to color, they would only color that enclosed area with that color. The area outside the lines won’t get colored even if they accidentally moved outside the lines.  This minimizes a lot unnecessary frustrations of young kids when they do coloring on tablets.

Drawing

It is a place for kids to draw their own pictures. The app provides 3 types of backgrounds for kids to draw on: textured, colored, and ruled. They have the same drawing tool choices as they have in the coloring section.

I particularly like the ruled background. It is a great tool for kids to learn drawing with the right proportions. It is cute to see a picture of a boy with a head twice as big as his body, but I am glad to have a way to teach kids the right scales of parts vs whole.

Symmetry

Kids will find many drawings that only have half of the pictures finished on the left side. They have to draw the symmetric part on the right side of the pictures. There are three difficulty levels: easy, moderate and difficult.

Challenge

It is a weekly challenge for kids to encourage them to draw more pictures. This week’s challenge is a picture of a flower and kids are asked to draw some more flowers and garden critters. Kids are encouraged to submit their challenge arts. Kids will get two stickers for each challenge they submit.

Art Club

It is a safe place for kids to share arts with others. Kids can get inspirations from art works by other kids.
