Before we get into today’s app, I have a favor to ask: I am trying to reach 300 ”+”s on Google+. I heard this is the number a website needs to have a good search index in Google. Can you help me reach the goal by clicking the red ”g+1″ button on the left panel? I have 85 now. You probably need login your Google account to do that. Thank you very much for your help!
Today’s app is Rounds: Parker Penguin. It is the 2nd app in the Rounds series from Nosy Crow. It is designed for kids 3 to 6 years old. With similar design to their first app, Rounds: Parker Penguin teaches kids the life cycle of a penguin: from birth to parenthood. When reading the story of the penguin Parker and his family, kids become an integral part of the little penguin’s growing up. With ingenious use of the technologies available for an app, kids can tilt the device to help the penguin slide on the ice, tap on the penguin to help him find food and avoid predators, swipe the baby penguin to help him lose his down. On each screen, upon each tap, there will be a new dialog bubble pup up with a trivia fact about penguin, such as “I can’t fly”, “I waddle because my legs are short”, “I push myself along with wings”, “I swallow my prey whole”, “I am about as tall as a 6-year-old child now”. These sentences are all short with words a toddler can fully understand and be able to relate to.
There are two ways to read the book app: “Read and Play” and “Read by Myself”. With “Read and Play”, the book is read professionally in children’s voices. The corresponding words are highlighted when they are read. In “Read by Myself” mode, there is only background sound and
music, with no narration.
iGameMom Comments:
Just like Rounds: Franklin Frog, Rounds: Parker Penguin is another great science app for toddlers. With simple illustrations, fun interactions, and age-level vocabulary and sentences, the app provides an intriguing story for kids to explore and learn at their own pace. Even in the “Read and Play” mode, kids can stay on a page for as long as they want to. This also gives parents the opportunity to interact with the kids, ask relevant questions, and explore the Penguin’s life together with their kids.
Rounds: Parker Penguin works on iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is $4.99 on App Store.
If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store button provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The button works for all countries.
