6 Kitchen Science Experiments for Kids – Simple, Easy and Fun

6 Kitchen science experiments using simple materials with easy set ups, good for kids of all ages. Fun STEM activities for kids at home
First, let’s try the color change juice and find out why the color changes. Will the taste change also?

If you have some celery and food coloring, you can do this celery science experiment. Kids need have some patience to see the result from this one though.

If you don’t have celery, find some plant leaves, you can set up the experiment to observe the water travelling through the leaves. There is even a free printable observation sheet for you to use.

No leaves at home? I am sure you have paper towels. This water walking experiment will be fun to watch.

Have you tried growing a bulb? Visit Observing Plant Growth with Bulbs for ideas on what kids can learn from watching the growth. Again, there is a free observation sheet you can print.

Having arty kids at home?  Try making some homemade paint with easy materials like vinegar, baking soda, corn syrup. I am sure kids will be eager to create more masterpieces with paint they make themselves.

I hope you like these science experiments. Doing science at home is not just for fun, it is also to cultivate child’s interest in science and help them grow scientific thinking skills. Don’t just do it for fun, try follow scientific steps while working with kids on these activities. I outlined the steps and developed this Science Experiment Recording Sheet. I highly recommend following these steps for each activity, even with young children. They can draw pictures if they can’t write. It is the process that is important, starting with questions and hypothesis.

I am interested on doing the homemade paint, it’s a two in one activity, you make paint and you use it for some painting session!

    • It sounds really interesting. The recipe looks easy to follow. I would be very interested to know how it turns out.
