The Witch With No Name is a 3D interactive digital book app for kids and the whole family. It tells the story of a witch, who doesn’t know her name, tries to find her name. It is a funny story, but the best parts are the interactive features built in the story. I love how the app engage kids in the activities throughout the story.
The whole production of the app is superb, especially the interactions on each page. There are nicely built in the story, and every time kids touch the screen there are something interesting, some conversations between the characters, something moved to a different spot, or disappeared.
The witch has to make the magic potion to be able to see through the crystal ball to find out her name. She and her friend are on the journey to find all the ingredients for the potion. Kids will help them on each single step. For example, kids will solve a jigsaw puzzle to help the witch to put the broken instructions together; they will help her to put toys, clothes and everything in order to find the dirty sock for the potion; they will play a compass game to help the witch find the right tree. All the activities are very entertaining and educational. At the end of the story, there are 4 surprises for kids to uncover!
Kids can choose to have the book read to them, or read it by themselves. The narration is fun and upbeat. The background music goes well with the story. You can choose to read the story in English or in French.
Overall The Witch with No Name is a great app to engage kids in a fun story. I enjoyed all the details the developers put in the design: the conversations on the opening screen, the page turning symbol at the bottom of the page, the little arrow indicating more text on the page, … all are very well made, and make this app a top quality choice.
