Toca Doctor is a medical-themed puzzle game for toddlers. There are 21 mini-games in the app.
To start the games, you move the robot doctor around the patient’s body. Each time the robot doctor screen the patient, there will be several sick spots identified. You go through the sick spots one by one. Each spot is a puzzle game. For example, if the mouth is the sick spot, you will be tapping on jumping germs in the patient’s mouth. If it’s on the tummy, you have to guide 3-4 circles (representing gas) through the maze from the patient’s stomach to their mouth (to let the gas out). You also see games of putting the organs into the right place by matching picture shapes, moving Band-Aid to cover the scratches on the knee…. All games are intuitive and very low key with no time limits. The app is largely visual with sound effects and music, no written and spoken words. For Kids who had no knowledge about human body, parents will have to explain the basic body concepts, such as the gas in you tummy, the organs inside your body, etc. It is all common knowledge that adult knows.
What the kids can learn:
Kids can learn about how the human body works and how it can be fixed when something is broken. While playing the puzzles, they get trained on hand-eye coordination and motor skills. They can also learn shapes and dimensions when moving and matching the shapes. For kids who don’t have the knowledge about human body, which is true for most toddlers, parents should play with them and explain the basic concepts to them.
iGameMom Comment:
Toca Doctor is a cute medical-themed puzzle game app. Kids will love to play even if they don’t know the medical meaning of the game. If you want the kids learn some basic body and medical concepts, you have to explain to them.
