Free App: Learn About Weather with MarcoPolo Weather App

Free App: Learn About Weather with MarcoPolo Weather App post image

MarcoPolo Weather app is the 2nd app in the MarcoPolo Discovery series. The first one is MarcoPolo Ocean, and I liked the first one very much. I am delighted to find out that the 2nd app is even better. MarcoPolo Weather is free with 5 weather conditions come with the free download. Some content such as 4 extreme weather conditions are available via In App Purchase. Free app for kids to learn about weather

When kids open the app, they will see 4 animal friends at the bottom of the screen. They can pick any one of them to stay at the center of the screen. At the top, there are 3 simulation buttons: weather condition, temperature, and wind.

There are 9 Weather Conditions in the app: sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rain, snow, thunderstorm, blizzard, tornado, and hurricane. The first 5 are free. Kids can choose any one of these weather conditions, and they will see how it looks like under that condition.

Temperature simulator ranges from -3 to 104 degree Fahrenheit. Kids can also choose to use Celsius temperature.

Wind simulator has 4 wind speed levels, and the first 3 are free.

I like how the 3 simulators are inter-related. If kids pick Snow as the weather condition, they will see the temperature automatically drops to 22 degree.

It is also very thoughtful for the developers to allow users to choose between night and day. At night, you will have darker view and see the temperature goes down.

Besides the animal friends, kids will also see some game options at the bottom of the screen. The first section is clothes, with different ones for different animals, and each animal has one for each weather condition, such as raincoat for raining days, shorts for hot days, and sweaters for colder days. One thing kids can do is to help the animal friends dress appropriately for the weather.

Other activities kids can find at the bottom of the screen: setting up picnics; plant flowers; feed the animals with different food items.

The app is available in 6 languages besides English. To choose the language, go to the parent section at the top left corner, and then tap on Settings.

The parent section has a lot helpful information. I suggest going through the parents’ guide before you let kids start on the game, as it shows and explains some less obvious features. I did not know you can create thunders by striking on the clouds.

Overall, MarcoPolo Weather is a well-designed science app for young children, with more than 50% content being free. Highly recommend.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
