Summer is a good time to learn about ocean and ocean animals. MarcoPolo Ocean is the perfect app for that. It takes kids to the fascinating ocean with fun learning activities. Kids will build submersibles and boats, travel the ocean and learn about ocean animals and environments. It is a great learning app for a beach vacation. 
When kids start the app, they can find all the puzzles they can build by tapping on the little puzzle piece on the top right corner of the screen. They will find 5 ocean objects for them to build:
Coral Reef
Marine Mammals
Fish
Boat
Submersible
I like it shows shaded areas for kids to put the puzzle pieces in. For each puzzle piece, there are 3-5 shaded areas for kids to decide where they should put the puzzle piece. For some pieces, they will hear the name of the object with an explanation. For example, on Boat, when kids put in the engine on the big picture, they will hear “Engine”, followed by a short explanation of what engine does.
After kids assemble the puzzle object, that object is available in their ocean for them to use. They can move the boat around and ride in the submersible to explore the deep part of the ocean.
At the bottom left corner of the screen, there is a little fish button. Tapping on it, kids will see many different types of fishes for them to release into the ocean. Now the ocean becomes a personal aquarium for the kids to explore.

I like self-exploratory apps. Parents can provide gentle help, but in general, kids can decide what they want to do. While playing, kids will learn:
*The wide variety of animal species that live in the shallow and deep parts of the ocean
*Ocean landscape
*Construction and characteristics of a boat (shipping vessel) and submersible
*Characteristics of fish and marine mammals
*Topic-specific vocabulary exposure and acquisition
The soothing music and colorful pictures will help keep kids engaged for extended time period.
