Storm and Skye is an animated story app for kids. It is designed for kids age 5 and up, but younger kids can enjoy the story as well, as long as they are not afraid of knight and dragons. The whole story is narrated vividly, with no text to read. It is a 45 minutes long story with 9 chapters. It is almost like a short movie to me.
Storm is a boy. One day after shopping, his mom drove the car to a car wash. It was the first time for Storm to go through a carwash. What did he see inside the carwash? A boy running? A knight on a horse? Were all these real? To find out, Storm revisited the car wash place, and met another boy (later turned out to be a girl) whose name was Skye. Two children went for an adventure… I won’t tell you the whole story, but they did see knight, horse, and dragon!
Along the adventure story, kids will learn about friendship, courage, and about facing the change of life.
It is the first app of a series. We can expect more stories of Storm and Skye will come.
The app is well designed, with inviting pictures and lively narration that will capture kids’ attentions. The background music compliments the story and pulls kids into the adventure with the two main characters Storm and Skye.
There are some interactive elements on some pages, like push a button to open or close the garage door.
As I mentioned earlier, the story is 45 minutes long. It might be long for some kids, but it is very engaging. The whole story is broke down into 9 chapters. At the end of each chapter, there is a stop, and users need push a continue button to continue the story.
Overall Storm and Skye is a very well made story app, with well crafted storyline and good moral value for kids. Well worth the $2.99 price. The app is available on iPhone, iPod and iPad.
